The Temporary exhibition “Holocaust in Bukovina”

in the Chernivtsi Museum of the History and Culture.

In December 2013 – February 2014 the Chernivtsi Museum of the History and Culture of Bukovinian Jews displayed for its visitors a temporary exhibition “Holocaust in Bukovina”, which was prepared in the framework of the project “Holocaust in History Class”supported by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kyiv. Pupils and students were the main target group of the exhibition. Photos, documents and letters, presented on the display boards, described the story of the tragic Holocaust events in Bukovina. In this way the organizers of the exhibition were trying to not only tell their visitors the historical truth about the tragedy of Jewish people, but help to form the perception of the Holocaust in the light of the local history – the history of the native village, town, city, land.
